OCTOBER - MIDORI
For Coco's Spirit gatherings in October, Bar Moga is featuring Midori, a classic liqueur! As you likely know, Midori is a sweet, bright green, melon liqueur. Midori was introduced to the United States for the first time in New York City, in 1978. The flavors of the liqueur are derived from the Japanese muskmelon, a sweet fruit that has a lingering floral aroma when cut open.
During Coco’s Spirit, two featured cocktails using Midori (Midori Melon Highball & Midori Cream Soda)will be offered at a special price of $10. In particular, a drink that was common during the Taisho/Showa era at yoshoku cafes in Japan, echoing Bar Moga’s meu which is a modern homage to yoshoku cuisine. Complimentary veggie chips(lotus root, purple yam, potato, truffle salt) are served to guests who come to mingle and chat with Coco, Bar Moga’s host and resident spirits expert.
Each month, Coco and Bar Moga showcase a new Japanese spirit (whisky, shochu, gin, etc.).
The “Coco’s Spirit” series is led by Kayoko “Coco” Seo, a trained jazz musician and Japanese beverage expert who refined her knowledge of Japanese spirits under the tutelage of the prolific Shingo Gokan of Angel’s Share.
